
Heath Kennedy is a tuba player from Cape Elizabeth, Maine. He is currently an undergraduate student studying at the University of Maine with a double major in Music Performance and Music Education. He currently studies with Dr. David Stern, but has studied tuba under Jobey Wilson, and Samantha Lake; he has also played for a masterclass with Phil Snedecor in the spring of 2023, and an additional masterclass with Kevin Chiarizzio in the fall of 2024.
Heath has found competitive success in local music competitions, such as being a co-recipient of the Friends of the Kotzchmar Organ’s Kotzschmar Memorial Trust Scholarship in 2023, a finalist in the 2024 Judith Elser Concerto Competition, and receiving the Jean and Harvey Picker Senior Prize in the Young Stars of Maine competition hosted by Bay Chamber in Camden, ME.
Heath has also found success outside of the state, receiving 2nd prize in the NERTEC Tuba Mock Orchestral competition. He also competed in the 2024 Leonard Falcone International Tuba-Euphonium Competition Tuba Artist division and earned an alternate spot for the festival.
Heath has spent two summers (2022 and 2023) marching with the Spartans Drum & Bugle Corps. In 2023 he was the tuba section leader and received 1st place at Open Class World Championship Finals.
